Coming Soon Through Etsy.com

Etsy.com is a lovely website that allows user to buy and sell handmade items (arts, accessories, clothing etc.). What I love about this site is that it allows artists and communicate, sell, and promote themselves in a somewhat exclusive community. Everything is made with the labor of love <3.

My style is a combination of modern and vintage inspired, and I prefer to use cotton, silk, and natural blend fabrics.  I'm also beginning to venture into organic fabrics. Stay tuned for more!

I'm Back?

So the semester at FIT proved to be a lot more strenuous than I was prepared for. I literally forgot about my blog until my good friend pointed it out to me again.

So I guess, I'm gonna attempt to blog...AGAIN? =)

I <3 Street Art

One of my favourite websites to browse on a weekly basis is nymag.com. One of the features they regularly post is called 'Reasons to Love New York'--where they provide lists of reasons to love this amazing city I call home. These lists are great because they really show how much New Yorkers LOVE their city. One of the reasons that made me smile was reason #38--

'We're highly receptive to bold, brilliant, mildly lunatic public art'

I am such a HUGE fan of street art and grafitti, especially Banksy, a popular British street graffitti artist. I believe you can only see Banksy's work in the UK (I could be wrong), but I just wanted to dedicate this post to street art, because it really does make an impact and affect me in positive way. I'm from Houston, TX, and we do have a small art scene, which I think is really great. Unfortunately, whenever or wherever street art graffitti appeared, it was painted over by the city--or what i like to call "censored". I never understood it, because what would life be without art?

My Ultimate Style Icons

My favourite style icons of this decade would definitely have to be Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. What I love about them is how they have a constistent look that's always unique and fashion forward. They aren't afraid to take risks, and they aren't conscious of the public's opinion of them. I also think its just amazing how young they are, yet they have such original personal style. I'm still trying to find my personal style, as I battle between soft, yet streamlined and modern, or layered, funky, and uniform.

“i dress for the image. not for myself, not for the public, not for fashion, not for men.” --Marlene Dietrich

What I adore about living in NYC is the copious amount of fashion conscious individuals in the city. It excites me to explore different neighborhoods and observe different and very unique personal styles around me. Here, fashion doesn't seem to be a representation of wealth or background, but an artistic representation of one's self.

Below are some of my favourite looks from the girls:

New Year, New Attempt At Blogging

When a friend mentioned my lack of posts on my Blog, I told her that I simply haven't been inspired lately. When I logged on, I realized that I haven't blogged in TWO months! So I'm really going to make the attempt to blog from here on--not just regarding fashion, but everything else. I have new inspiration. I am officially a resident of New York City, and I can't wait to share my thoughts, views, and experiences while living in this magical city. Words cannot describe how unbelievably blessed I feel to be living here. I feel incredibly lucky to wake up to the amazing energy, culture, and art that surrounds me. New year, new life, new start. Cheers!

Out With The New, In With The Old...Sort Of

I'm obsessed with Urban Outfitters nod to the classics in furnishings, accessories, and technology. Next up on the wish list:

The Rolleiflex twin lens digital camera: takes amazing intimate portraits that allow the subject to produce more candid and natural shots--I love that its a miniature and updated version of the real thing, but still has the original look.

The Mini Leica Golddust Digital Camera: I've heard such great things about Leica, and I love the vintage gold appearance. Cute and totally functional for something so small!

Crosby Archive Portable USB Table: I've been wanting to collect vintage LPs--I love the scratchy sound quality--such an old school feel! This turntable has the right look for what I've been looking for.

Loves, Loves, Loves it!
